Get to know Martin
Martin has worked at Kils Automatsvarvning for over a decade. With his broad role, he’s an essential part of the small but close-knit team. We had a chat with him about his work, the challenges, and what he enjoys doing when the workday is over.
Hi Martin! What do you do at Kils Automatsvarvning?
I’m responsible for the warehouse – which means a bit of everything. I make sure everything runs smoothly, unload trucks, pack, operate the wheel loader, and ensure we have all the materials in place. There are only a few of us working in the warehouse, so you have to be a bit of a jack-of-all-trades.
How long have you worked here?
Since 2012. Before that, I worked at a building supply store here in Kil. I got into this job through a friend who was the warehouse manager at the time. One day, he asked if I wanted to start working with him, but I initially said no. Then we talked again, I came by to check things out, and ended up accepting the offer. After a while, I took over his position – and several years have passed since then!
What do you think is the biggest challenge in your job?
Keeping up with everything, especially when it’s time to load for our major customers like Volvo, every Wednesday. Everything has to be packed and ready on time – it can get quite stressful. We also have another company that helps with packing, and I coordinate with them so they know what needs to be done. It varies from week to week; sometimes there’s a lot going on at once, while other weeks are a bit calmer and you can catch up on other things.
How would you describe Kils Automatsvarvning?
I really enjoy my job. We’re a small company where everyone knows each other. The atmosphere is great and my colleagues are fantastic – it feels like a small family.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I go to the gym, spend time on the computer, and watch a lot of movies. I’m not picky when it comes to genres – if it’s a good movie, I’ll watch it! My favorite is The Shawshank Redemption. I’m also a hockey fan and support Djurgården – which goes against the norm here, since most people at work are Färjestad fans.
