A business journey through Sweden’s industrial heartland

Between March 30 and April 4, our owner Joakim Wändel took part in a business trip organized by Region Värmland. The goal was clear: to open doors for new collaborations between companies from Värmland and some of Sweden’s largest industrial corporations.

During visits to major players such as LKAB, Boliden, SSAB, and several others, we gained unique insights into their operations and future plans. What we brought back home: valuable contacts, inspiration – and a strong sense that we’re heading in exactly the right direction.

Down into the mine – and up into the future

The journey began in Gällivare with a visit to LKAB’s mine, 1,250 meters underground. There, we saw how electric machinery, AI, and advanced simulators are used to ensure efficiency and safety. The day continued at Boliden Aitik, an open-pit mine so vast that it produces the equivalent of eight Eiffel Towers’ worth of iron ore – every single day!

Innovation and sustainability in focus

We also visited companies like Sveborr, specialists in protective solutions for military vehicles and custom-built cars, and Nova Industrier, experts in cutting and machining – an area where we ourselves have much to contribute.

In Luleå, the focus shifted to future technology: we tested AI glasses at Luleå University of Technology and learned more about the initiatives for fossil-free steel at SSAB and H2 Green Steel.

Skellefteå – industrial development in transformation

The final stop was Skellefteå, where we met with local companies and gained insight into the region’s rapid development despite Northvolt’s bankruptcy. The area continues to build for the future, with energy, infrastructure, and raw materials as its foundation.

Together with representatives from Ölme Mekaniska, Bäckmans Blästermaskiner, and Voestalpine Precision Strip, the trip became one filled with knowledge, networking, and optimism for the future.

We thank Region Värmland for this valuable initiative. Now we look forward to taking the next step toward long-term collaborations. The future – we’re on our way!
